Unknown assailants opened fire on a container-mounted vehicle carrying former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan during a rally in eastern Punjab province on Thursday. According to Asad Umar, a party spokesman, Khan was injured in the leg but was not gravely affected.
The gunman's name, who was apprehended at the site, was not immediately known. There has been no claim of responsibility for the shooting. Imran Khan was taken to the hospital.
"He's being transported to a hospital in Lahore, but he's not gravely hurt." "He was wounded in the keg by a gunshot," Umar told reporters.
“Imran Khan is being shifted to Lahore for medical treatment,” said Asad Umar, adding that other PTI leaders including Senator Faisal Javed, former Sindh governor Imran Ismail, Ahmed Chatta and Umar Dar were also injured as a result of firing during PTI long march.
