A Bajrang Dal activist on Thursday filed a First Information
Report (FIR) against a south Indian actress Sai Pallavi at the Sultan Bazaar
police station, accusing her of making derogatory comments against Hindus and
Kashmiri Pandits on a YouTube channel, reported Deccan Chronicle.
Bajrang
Dal activist Akhil stated in his complaint that actress Pallavi, during a
recent interview, had commented negatively on gau rakshaks. “We are
verifying the video and will be taking legal opinion,” said Sultan Bazaar
inspector P. Padma.
Police
sources revealed, as per the report, the complainant also stated that “the
actress’ comments had hurt the sentiments of animal lovers whom she compared
with Kashmiri extremists”.
Pallavi while condemning violence in the name of religion had
compared the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits with cow vigilantism in an interview to
YouTube channel Great Andhra.
“The
Kashmir Files showed how Kashmiri Pandits were killed at the time. If you are
taking the issue as a religious conflict, there was an instance recently where
a Muslim was attacked when he was driving a vehicle carrying cows, and people
chanted Jai Shri Ram. So where is the difference from what happened then and
what is happening now?” the actor had commented.
In
a statement, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson N.V. Subhash said ‘The
Kashmir Files’ was about “genocide against the Kashmir Pandits”, and that “the
actress had no knowledge of Indian history and culture except acting as
instructed by directors in the film industry”.
Condemning
Pallavi’s comments, Subhash said cow slaughter was banned in India and it
appeared that she had no knowledge of this matter.
